Overview

Journey along one of New Zealand’s most scenic coastal rail routes on the Coastal Pacific train from Christchurch to Picton. Departing the city, the train travels north through the rolling farmland of the Canterbury Plains before reaching the rugged coastline of Kaikōura, where mountains meet the sea. With panoramic windows and access to the Open-Air Viewing Carriage, you’ll enjoy uninterrupted views of turquoise waters, black sand beaches, and the vast Pacific Ocean. The journey continues through Marlborough wine country, arriving in Picton, gateway to the Marlborough Sounds. Scenic Plus guests enjoy a curated menu featuring regional flavours and local wines, with commentary and service enhancing the journey throughout.
